Mojo Tour

Magic Bullet Mojo has been out for a few months now, and you guys seem to be figuring it out fine on your own, but I thought I’d record this guided tour anyway, because when I put the headset mic on I feel just like Janet Jackson.

Magic Bullet Mojo is $99 on its own, or available as a part of the Magic Bullet Suite.

You should make a more in depth MBL video, cause it seems like you are getting more accurate skin tones with Mojo!
thanks anyways, the tutorial was great!

Will we see the Stu JJ wardrobe malfunction clip on YouTube... ? Inquiring minds want to know! ;-)

Stu, thanks for putting this together. I'm a big fan of Mojo and have used it on every video I've done since buying it. Even for very subtle looks.

Just one question, is there any chance of a Vegas 64bit compatible version of Mojo? It's the only plugin holding me back from making the switch to 64bit Vegas. Everything is compatible, even my audio plugins. Just not Mojo, so a Vegas 64bit compatible version would be greatly appreciated!

Stu,

please reply if possible: Will there be any Version of any MB coloring suite which supports Video Hardware preview via Black Magic Design Cards or AjA in the near future? At least for the actual Frame im working on?

Collor Finesse (Ae) does support Hardware (real time Playback) for a long time, why not MB Products?
Or will it stay more kinda toy forever?

There is no Feature Request Form at Red Giant and any of the Contact Form there keeps you away from writing anything to them. I think there are a hundred reasons why they should provide a feature request section.

thank you.
T.

Hi Thomas,

I'm not sure I understand your question completely. Mojo and Colorista both work with video hardware preview. Have you tried the demos?

We definitely understand how much people want this feature in Magic Bullet Looks as well.

A feature request form on the Red Giant site is a great suggestion, thanks for that.

Hi Stu,

thank you for your reply.
Sorry, is was a bit in a hurry.
It's about BML, YES, YES, YES!
And regarding to the feature request form, YES!
If red giant is willed to listen to the community regarding RG software?

Thank you!
T.

Red Giant is very willing to listen to the community. They read these comments, they are all over Twitter, and they answer the phone when you call.

Here's a hint though: If you want them to listen to your feedback with enthusiasm, consider refraining from referring to Magic Bullet Looks as a "toy."

Software developers are people too!

What kind of color correction style do you suppose was used on JJ Abrams' Star Trek? I can't really tell if it used any kind of look at all. Looks very much like real world colors. Maybe a very slight green tint, but it's really hard to tell.

February 25, 2010 | Unregistered CommenterDanielBroadway

That looks really good. On a semi-related topic, what is the difference between Colorista and Looks? I understand Looks has pre-packaged, erm, looks, built in, but what's the real advantage here?

February 25, 2010 | Unregistered Commenterart chong

Daniel, I would say that STAR TREK follows the Mojo recipe, with a slightly green tint to the shadows and a punchy but not overly saturated palette. Try these settings in Mojo:

Mojo: 18
Mojo Tint: 75
Mojo Balance: 60
Warm It: 0
Punch It: 55
Bleach It: 0

Of course, much of STAR TREK's look comes from the high-fill-ratio lighting, anamorphic lensing, and spacey production design, so there's only so much that a mere plug-in can do!

Art, the simplest way to put it is that Colorista is a utility color corrector. It's meant to fill the role of the must-have, first-thing-you-reach-for color adjustment tool. It has a minimal UI and is designed to be used in cooperation with other effects, or with multiple copies of itself. It works right in your host app's UI so that you can always see your work contextually.

Looks, on the other hand, is a deep and fun environment for creating unique, well, looks, for your video. It does much more than just color correction — it can simulate lens filters, film stocks, chemical techniques, and lens characteristics. you can select from hundreds of presets and then adjust to taste, saving your own presets if you like. With Looks, we take over your entire screen to provide you with the best user experience that we can.

What I often do is stretch an After Effects Adjustment Layer over an entire sequence with one Magic Bullet Looks applied. Then I use Colorista on the individual shots to balance them out, adjust lighting, etc. I use Colorista to "correct" the colors and Looks to design the unique feel of the sequence.

Hey Stu, we are waiting for the Colorista to be available to Sony Vegas Pro.

Will it be?

You're right. I'll try to calm down with my premature pricking.
Sorry for that.

Great video Stu! I picked up Mojo on an impulse buy last fall, but had trouble getting to do what I expected it to do, so I with a deadline looming I defaulted back to looks. Now I realize that had completely misunderstood the function of most of the sliders beneath the first Mojo slider.

Now I realize it is far more powerful than expected. What a great deal!

Thanks a bunch for Mojo for Vegas. I've been really happy with my results! Would love to see this be made available for 64 bit Vegas.

Well thanx for this video. I went out and bought Mojo after watching this and used it the same day on a job. Awesome plugin.

March 5, 2010 | Unregistered CommenterImaginara

Does Mojo work correctly for black (or dark brown) skin? (for some reason this feels like a sensative question! :| )

It works perfectly, and here's why.
