ProLost is the Site of the Week on TWiP. If you're a first-time-visitor, thanks for stopping by! Here's a topical greatest hits to make you feel at home:

Enjoy! I read all your comments and respond where appropriate. You can also find me at the Rebel Café, where we discuss stuff related to my book, The DV Rebel's Guide.

UPDATE: I appreciate all the requests for my impressions of the LX3. I'm going to refrain though until Lightroom supports it's raw files—until then, it's not a real camera. But I did post a couple of sample 720p24 videos on Vimeo to appease those who wanted to see how much of an improvement they represent over the LX2

Can't wait to hear your thoughts on the LX3 first hand once you've had a chance to give it a go!

I can't wait to see what you think of the LX3 video especially compared to D90 stuff. I wonder if it has the same rolling shutter and balky manual control issues of the D90.

yeah im up in the air against the LX3 and the G10. right now the LX3 is winning for the 720p24 video in a specs sense, although the G10 has a longer throw on their lens. would love to hear your thoughts on the LX3

Yes, please post your comments on the LX3. I have been watching it's pre-order price and status at Amazon bounce around for weeks.

Yeah Stu, please post a comment on the LX3. Im on a really tight budget and cant really afford an HV30 right now but I still need a camera and a regular P&S.. would the LX3 do for cheap shorts? If not, what would you suggest I get? Thanks.

The LX3 is not gonna cut it even for "cheap" shorts." The HV30, is only http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00114PN1U/002-6158493-5501619?ie=UTF8&tag=prolost-20&linkCode=xm2&camp=1789&creativeASIN=B00114PN1U" REL="nofollow">$700 on Amazon right now. The http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001CCLBSA/002-6158493-5501619?ie=UTF8&tag=prolost-20&linkCode=xm2&camp=1789&creativeASIN=B001CCLBSA" REL="nofollow">LX3 is $478. Just how cheap are your shorts?

Too bad. My shorts are cheap, very cheap! Life at Full Sail University is very expensive for a South American like me. I guess I will have to starve and get myself an HV30. Thanks for replying Stu. By the way, is Mark Christiansen planning on releasing a new After Effects Studio Techniques book now that CS4 is out?

Hi Stu,
What are your thoughts on this camera?
Is there a way of locking the AE in movie mode?
