The Spirit Teaser on MTV.com
Saturday, April 19, 2008 at 6:32PM
I've been working on this little Frank Miller movie called The Spirit for a while now, and now you can finally get a peak at it! Frank premiered it at Comicon New York this week, and now it's at MTV.com, in HD even. See it there along with interviews with Frank and Eva Mendes, who plays Sand Saref in the film.

Grrrr! Copyright restrictions prevent this video being played outside the US. Thank you MTV.

The Teaser looks fantastic, from look to colors and effects. But...
...sorry to say so, but the scene on the roof seems to be not so well choosen. It looks like the Spirit hab luck not to break his neck... it looks like he's falling and just kept in position by some ropes...
;-)
Looks awesome. I've never heard of Frank Millers comic 'The Spirit'. I guess people will compare it to Sin City or 300 and expect the same thing.
No problems watching it from Holland. Looks stunning - although I'm curious to see how it goes beyond Sin City.
You can watch it if you are out side the US wyld, just click on the HD button on the left

It's embedded on this page and plays fine for me (outside the US)
It looks really cool. Nice one Stu!
That´s strange, I´m outside the US and video plays fine ?!? But looks very promising, very nice wire-acrobat action :) Question: How does it work, is the trailer the first stuff that gets touched in post? Is there an script or does one just cut together stuff that´s finished?
Ah-ha! I was trying to check out the *interview*; being a dumb-ass I didn't see that big HD button.
Man, I LOVED Sin City, but that dodgy wire work from the actor/stunt guy looked very odd, and perhaps singles out Miller as a bit of an inexperienced director (perhaps Rodriguez may have demanded another take or two until it was right).
Of course, I will hold out complete judgement until I see the entire flick, but I wonder if Miller could have done something that looked less like Rodriguez's version of Sin City. Which is kind of ironic, seeing as Miller was the originating source, but you know what I mean...
Sorry for being rambling, but leaving comments and half watching my wife's soap opera in Mandarin doesn't entirely mix...
I can't say much in direct response to your comments guys, but if you know the comic at all, you'll know that as cool as The Spirit is, he's not a superhero. Sometimes he messes up. Sometimes he stumbles!
That would explain the "problems" with this scene. Thought about something like that, as I don't know the Spirit at all (only the covers, was a marvelfanboy).
Now I feel happy about it.
Loved the tie! I'll buy a ticket.

Loved the tie! I'll buy a ticket. (And I do remember The Spirit.)
The Spirit was a comic by Will Eisner, who is highly regarded and influential in the comic world. Google "Will Eisner." A funny thing is that he signature resembles Walt Disney's.
Great 'look', nice work Stu.
Can't help but laugh at the use of the Untouchables score.
Practically every single guy I know who makes any kind of action-scene at least cuts to this track.
Great piece of music from Ennio Morricone.
Yeah, I figured the clumsiness of the actor was intentional. No way a big film like this would "settle" for something like that if they wanted the guy to be a ninja.
So Stu, how are the skin tones in this one? :-P
Not knowing the comic or the story all I can say that I liked the Sin City look of the trailer. However it was one of the most boring trailers I have seen lately. Storywise it didn't do anything for me.
Well, what can I say. The soundtrack makes this trailer. Yes, it is visually beautiful, but the soundtrack by Ennio is marvelous (The Untouchables).
Great job!
