NAB2008 pt. 4: I got your keynote right here.

Thanks to Dave Basulto and Mark Christiansen, here’s some NAB bootleg action for ya!

Thank you so much!
This is awesome!
Both Mr. Basulto and Mr. Christiansen are awesome. After Effects 5.5 Magic totally kicks the pants out of the 6.5 update (which Christiansen had nothing to do with.) If you don't have that book, you can get it cheap on Amazon. There's plenty of info that's not duplicated elsewhere, and it's not like someone came up with better techniques for AE 6, 6.5, 7 or 8.

Um, I could be mental but I can't find the video anywhere?

Mmm... Helicopters flying out of my butt...

The Project Runway example of production value is excellent.

Thanks for being such a beacon of common sense in this tech-obsessed world, Stu. Master the tools, craft a story, shoot intelligently, create beautiful imagery.

Nobody really cares what kind of hammer you use to build a beautiful house, but you damned well better know how to use it.

Side note: Is it at all coincidental how much story is being reiterated after the WGA strike?

Great Stuff Stu,
The part about planning is so important. I am always running into people who "want to work on a film together". They just want to grab a camera and just go out and shoot and hope to "fix it in post' ( where do they learn these things from?). Or hope that it can willy nilly be edited together and somehow make sense.

Im glad that your message is getting out there more. The crowd seemed very receptive hopefully we will see more folks show up on the forums from NAB.

(Those shots of Mike running around in China town all pimped out like a gangster always kill me ( I used to work with him many years ago at a place called Danger Productions, he is one funny dude)).

Great video! I finally was able to watch tonight. Totally valuable. It was like the same experience as in the DVD Forum, but here I didn't have to read anything, just sit back and enjoy!
;)

"The battery died."

So why don't these things get recorded with higher production values? Better sound and a better look at the projected clips would be nice.

I assume the purpose of the meeting is to communicate. You had a few hundred in the room. You reach thousands, if not millions on the Internet.

Stu,
How is your book as far as being updated? Is the latest version up to date with the techniques you use? I want to purchase it, but if you have a new edition coming out, I will wait. Thanks

David D, no plans for an update in the immediate future. Buy now!
