Prolost Presets for Lightroom
Wednesday, July 10, 2013 at 8:39AM As those of you who watched my Lightroom User Group presentation learned, I use a system of graduated presets for processing my photos in Adobe Lightroom. I’ve essentially used these presets to redesign the Lightroom user interface—instead of using sliders to specify adjustments, the presets allow me to see and react to visual choices, tapping into some of the same instincts I’ve developed behind the lens.
I quietly offered the presets to early adopters, but now it’s time to properly release them. The set of over 400 presets is available now for only $19.99. They work on Mac and Windows, and require Lightroom 4 or higher.
This is version 1.5 of the presets. I’ve tweaked a few things and added some new presets, including 5 extremely useful Color Treatment presets, the Prolost Technical group, and a Red Scale preset in Prolost Creative. If you bought the presets before as an early adopter, you probably don’t need to upgrade, but doing so is a lovely way to support future offering like this.

This makes me want to buy lightroom.
As an early adopter I can recommend these preset to every LR user. They make it easy to achieve good looking results at a fraction of time.
I was an early adopter also.
My bank called me the next day to ask if it was an authorized transaction when Stu's nondescript online entity showed up in my bank statement.
I was quite impressed they cared to call and confirmed it was indeed a legitimate online purchase. There was a moment's silence on the phone and it felt like the bank dude really wanted to ask what that relatively modest purchase was. But he didn't, because his supervisor was probably listening in 'for training purposes'.
Stu, is there any way your Lightroom user group presentation could be made downloadable?
The only way I could imagine doing that would be with some kind of browser extension that allows downloading flash files. Sorry it can't be easier.
Wow Stu, these are to Lightroom what those DV Rebel expressions were for After Effects back in the day. This workflow opens so many possible scenarios and is so effing expandable. Great demo video btw.

Good question Yannick—I guess that will depend on what form these future updates take.
Love this set of presets. I have to admit that I'm not much of a light room user because fussing with all of the sliders is just too much of a bother for most of my work. I end up only perfecting a few shots instead of seeing what I could do with the shots that originally caught my eye and made me take the photo in the first place.
I just wish Light Room made it easier to navigate through the pre-sets.
As I recently told a friend of mine, these presets were the best $20 I've spent in a long time!!!
I spent all last Saturday going through a backlog of images that I was hesitant on working on. However, with these presets and the way you presented a different way of editing with them, I'm hooked!
I couldn't believe how much fun I was having trying out different presets and learning more about how things interact with each other.
These are the moments I live for when things just *click*. Thanks again for a wonderful product and not making it so expensive that I have to go back to eating cereal full time. =D

Bought the first version and just bought these.
Is there a description of what the technical ones actually do?
Also, I really don;t like the way the color contrast presets destroy any work already done to the RGB tone curve when applied, but that's easy enough to fix by deleting this chunk from the .lrtemplate file:

The technical presets are designed to "zero out" the Develop adjustments and leave only scene-referred pixel values. Good if you plan on doing post-processing in some other app or plug-in.
