Canon EOS M
Sunday, July 22, 2012 at 11:48PM
I’m pre-ordering this one. I always like to have a nice, little camera, and I figure I’ve got until October to change my mind.
- APS-C 18.0 Megapixel CMOS sensor
- Touch screen (looks like the same UI as the Rebel T4i/650D)
- In fact, it’s basically a T4i at half the weight and half the thickness, thanks to the lack of a mirrorbox
- 1080p 24/25/30 with continuous autofocus
- 720p 50/60
- Works with EF lenses (with adapter that will be included with the body-only kit)
- Ships with an EF-M 22mm ƒ2.0 pancake lens
- The STM lens is said to be smooth and silent when focusing, specifically for video
- $799, ships in October

Any idea if aliasing/moire is still there, as with the T4i?
If it is, I'd suggest the 5N instead... except lots of people will rather pay more and live with aliasing/moire in order to use their very lovely Canon glass. Not my case, though: I use vintage lenses, and they'll work on any of these.

I'm a very loyal Nikon user, but I have to acknowledge that Canon wins mirrorless.
Yes, Canon repeated Nikon's mistake of giving their mirrorless a unique mount and requiring an EF adapter, thus robbing themselves of a lot of "DSLR user's back-up camera" sales.
But at least Canon gave it a sensor large enough that people will WANT such an adapter, unlike Nikon. What is a normal lens on the Nikon 1's absurd cell-phone-camera sensor, like a 15,000mm? Fail.
it supposedly still has aliasing/moire, since it's using the same sensor as the 7D. i'm looking to grab the sony rx100. hopefully they'll add 24 fps.
