It is now 2008.

Your flying car and sliver jumpsuit should be arriving any minute.

Looking for some resolutions? Maybe do some photography (or do a lot of photography), write a screenplay in 21 days, or fuck it, just make a movie.

Happy new year and best wishes to all y'all for the oh-eight!

Update: I also wanted to thank those of you who have emailed me in the past few days, having discovered this site and/or the Rebel Café after receiving The Guide as a gift. The DV Rebel's Guide was published almost exactly a year ago, and it's thrilling to me that new readers are still discovering it. Welcome new Rebels!

Gracias sir. Happy New Year to you, as well. Though I read your book, I also did the fxphd class. Lots of cool additional info.

I hope the year treat you great.

My resolution is the leave the ad world behind and be making films sooner than later in this new year.

I got your book for Christmas and although I haven't finished it yet, it's already been very valuable to me.

The link worked fine for me.

Hi

Just wanted to say, I've also been gifted this book (although it's been quite complicated, imported it from UK to Spain xD)

And it's great value. I'll recommend it.

cheers,
Alfonso

BTW, I'll be registering on Rebel Cafe, as I've got some issues that I hope u can help me :)

Is this "writing a scrennplay..." thing really that good? Yes?

Damn, there goes the money ;-)

Just finished my first movie after the rebels guide and am now in postpro (heavily abusing MBLooks and colorista).

And now as I see that all seems to work just fine, even in Postpro I have to say a big thank you stu.
Your Book rocks

George, you won't be disappointed. The title may sound gimmicky but King's book is just terrific.

As I said, there goes the money :-)

I have the Viki King book and the reason it's great is that if you follow all the excercises after 21 days you WILL have a screenplay. If it's any good isn't that important, but it's the best book out there if you want to prove to yourself (and others) that you have the willpower to write a feature length screenplay.
I have it on my desk right now as I'm getting ready to write another one. Best 10 bucks you'll ever spend (after having bought the Rebel's Guide of course, sorry Stu)

Hey Stu, you're book is awesome. Also, I DLed the trial version of MBLooks and it's awesome. I like how you make the curves work more like levels. That saves a bit of time by already having the "points" in there, as I prefer the curves to levels.

Also, I think I'm down with the "fuck it, just make a movie," plan!

One last thing... I was wondering if I should pick up Mark's updated book. I already have the one for AE 6.5. Is there more stuff I can benefit from in the new version?

Thanks!

Ehm... I kind of feel weird writing here. I mean, I've read and left hundred of comments in other blogs; but this time it feels like it was the first...

Hello Mr. Maschwitz,

I am just one more 'living creature' that has read your book, and by doing so, had his life divided in two: "Before and After reading the DV Rebel's Book".

I can't say more, but THANK YOU for writing it. Reading each chapter was an experience I will never forget, I've already read it twice! And can't wait to read it again!!!

It was like as if someone had shown me "another way"; I think of it as the moment when Morpheus tells Neo about the Matrix for the first time, I think it was the same feeling!!! ...as I read each and every page.

But THE BEST thing about your book, is that it is... INSPIRING!

I finished reading it, started writing, and shot a short movie.

I even have a blog documenting everything!!!

I know you are a very busy man, but it would be an honor if you (our mentor), paid us a visit one day.

The first step of this short film was reading your book.

...
It was only today that I found your blog, so I'll go and read all your other posts. Sorry if your inbox gets filled out by messages from Blogspot saying you have "new comments..."
;)

See ya!
