The Rebel Café just exceeded my wildest dreams

DV Rebel GageFX just rounded out his amazing thread on how to make killer fake blood by rising to the challenge of implementing and documenting the loose instructions that I include in The Guide for a wire-pull blood squib.

Awesome work GageFX!

That thread has a lot of good info. Here's another method that looks interesting:

Hahaha... I think there are less cumbersome ways to get to see a girl in her bra. Other than that, cool!

So, how did you get the thing to explode?

Consult page 193!

pull the string through the hole in shirt.

I apologize for some vagueness. The line is 30lb test, "Smoke" (black) colored fishing line made by FIRELINE and purchased at Walmart. The line was fed through the hole in the shirt, held taught until "impact" and then yanked.

The line is pretty thick line, but as you can tell, it is invisible on screen. No post-prod removal work was used.

This pretty much made my lunch hour! Nice work.

I've been driven to write a more ambitious script than ususal by Stu's rebel rousing book.

Any ideas for gory arrow hits. . . mmmmmm

Cheers, Andrew

Why don't your titles fit on the player screen?

June 21, 2007 | Unregistered CommenterRob

The title issue is only on Prolost. I think it has something to do with Stu's page layout.

GORY arrow hits? Not so much. arrow hits aren't so difficult, though. Filming it is easy. Then to have the hits sticking out of a person, I would take a belt, attach some florist foam to the belt, wrap the belt around the person's chest (or wherever), cut a hole in the shirt, then stab the arrow into the foam. Add blood.

You can also use this for something similar - put a small blood pack in the front face of a baseball cap. Put some florist foam behind that. Put a think piece of leather behind that. Take a dulled knife and stab it into the foam an you have a bloody knife effect with the knife still sicking into the guys head.

DISCLAIMER: I (nor Stu) is responsible for goofballs actually stabbing someone in the head and hurting/killing them. if you do ANYTHING, it is ALL ON YOU.

Scratch that about Stu's layout. I dont know what the problem is. The videos are fine as I rendered them. May be a problem with the upload conversion.
